I’m Emma Russell, a freelance illustrator, artist, and probable human, based in London. I enjoy using colour, hand-lettering and pattern, and am especially drawn to things that are a little strange and dreamy or a little humorous. And hands, I love drawing them - they’re so expressive, they are a repeated motif in my personal drawings.

Applications of my work have included editorial, publishing, branding, explainers, packaging, merchandise, entertainment and lifestyle, reports and pitch documents. I love working across different applications and concepts.

I primarily draw and work in Photoshop for commissioned work, and paint, draw and make all kinds of objects for personal projects, but I love being challenged to make different things. Got a different approach you need? Let me know!

When I’m not illustrating for clients, I’m lettering and illustrating as the co-founder of a sweary greetings card company Damn Fine Greetings.

In my free time, I sing and make weird costumes in a cabaret theatre.
